FINALLY!!!

I know I have disappeared for a while but I have a very good reason, I am two months pregnant! So yes, I have been gone but only because I've pretty much been exhausted and sleeping all the time! I still have been busy with some things but finding energy now is a little trickier than before. Still, I can't contain the excitement! So one of the projects I've been desperate to finish is finally done! My stationery site. Check it out here and tell me what you think!

International Project

I am very excited this week! I will be leaving for Costa Rica in 10 days!!! I can't even begin to explain how excited I am. I was born in Costa Rica and moved to the US when I was 7. We went back every summer the day after school was out and came back home the day before school started up again! So I guess you could say we lived about 3 months in Costa Rica and the rest of the year here. They were fantastic vacations spent at my grandma's house, who I always miss so much. As we grew older, we had more obligations and weren't really able to leave for the summers like before. It's been 3 years since I have seen my family. I saw my grandparents about 2 years ago when they came for my wedding but of course it's never enough and parting is always so hard. So I've been preparing for the trip and making little gifts for my cousins and aunts. They love my stationery and I really like the thought of giving them something I've made especially for them. I particularly enjoyed making one present and that is for my aunt Leda. She is very crafty herself and has started a small business selling her handmade dolls. Apparently, she has quite a following in our little town and I'm very excited to see and photograph her dolls so I can show them off. I figured what better gift than to make her some business cards! So that's what I made her. Here is the design. I am printing and cutting them out now. Hopefully she'll like them as much as I enjoyed making them.

A Wedding to Remember

So I finished a huge project and got permission from the bride to post it. She has been getting fantastic feedback about the invites and keeps telling me everyone is asking who made them. I can't describe how wonderful it is to hear that!
So I had to make 125 wedding invitations in 2 weeks. It was quite a challenge but it has been very rewarding and I took pictures every step of the way to document it all.

All the pieces are printed out here. I printed everything on 11" x 17" paper.

Here are the sheets on the paper cutter and the pieces of matte cardstock I had already glued together to frame the invitation.

Now everything is cut and ready to be assembled!

Here are the invites and RSVPs glued onto the matte card stock. They looked great!

And here are the stuffed closed invitations sealed with the printed bands!

I will be posting the final invitation soon!

Letterpress Newbie

Yes! That's what I am and I've been slowly learning what letterpress is all about. I've always loved this form of printing and after purchasing my very first Kelsey about six months ago I was on a hunt for a great class. Luckily, after months of searching, I found Peter Kruty's in-depth workshop and had a great time. It was four 6 hour days at his studio learning from a real master. Although I worked on a Vandercook I learned so much about the craft itself and am now better prepared. I've posted here two of the cards I did as my personal project in the class. After the workshop, I was lucky enough to meet Maggie Portis of Gamewell Press and she was kind enough to come out and help me set up my Kelsey. I was so fortunate to have found her as my efforts were proving to be in vain. I've been told setting up a press is very difficult and it certainly proved to be. Now, however, the press is set but Maggie discovered the rollers aren't in the best shape so I'm off to replace them so I can start printing. Hopefully I'll have some stuff to put up soon!

Finally! I've been able to put these up. I know I have again fallen on the bad habit of neglecting the blog but I have been busy working on some cute stuff and here are a couple of photos to prove it. More here.
Enjoy!! :)
